Emma Niven of Loch Leven's Larder presents the winner's trophy

Artists from across Scotland gathered on Saturday 12 September to tackle the challenge of interpreting one of Kinross-shire’s best known landscapes in a variety of media including oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels.

16 artists spent the day painting outdoors – known as “en plein air” – at Loch Leven’s Larder, overlooking the splendid vista of Loch Leven in the shadow of the Lomond Hills.

They then submitted their works for judging by an expert panel, led by Nichol Wheatley, renowned painter, mosaic artist and curator from Crook of Devon, wildlife and landscape artist Hayley Mills and watercolourist and tutor Jem Bowden.

Taking home the winner's trophy was Edcel Mendoza of Perth, while Nessie Kirkbride of Cupar and Chris Amos from Dunfermline were joint runners-up.

The Outdoor Painting Challenge was hosted by Loch Leven's Larder.

Runner-up Nessie Kirkbride, from Cupar
