Maggie Wallace

Having had a career in graphic and exhibition design I now enjoy the freedom to work in a less prescriptive way experimenting with water colour, oil pastel, gouache, pencil crayon etc. however my current work is mainly in acrylic, the content predominantly taken from natural form and still life. My starting point for a painting is usually an adaptation or detail from one of my photos or sketches of trees, woodland or water that has captured interesting light, reflections or atmosphere. My style is fairly representational, using bold colour and brushwork, but I am currently embracing a more atmospheric approach by incorporating more textural effects and mixed media.
